Graveside services at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Alton will be held at10 a.m. Monday for George F. Redmond, 69, of Yakima, Wash. Redmond,retired sports editor of the Yakima Daily Republic, formerly worked asa sports writer for the Belleville News Democrat and the old St. LouisStar Times.
Born in Alton Dec. 17, 1897, the son of Mr. and the former Mr. FredRedmond, he died at 7:15 a.m. Monday at a Yakima hospital. He wasmarried Dec. 7, 1918, to the former Ethel Streeter in New London,Conn.
Survivors, besides his widow, are his mother, Mrs. Margaret Redmond ofColumbia, Ill.; a brother, Eldon, of Columbia; three daughters, Mrs.Robert Kenefick of St. Louis, Mrs. Glen Heaviside of Seattle, Wash.,and Mrs. Mary Schunke of Seattle; and 12 grandchildren. He waspreceded in death by two sons.
Friends may call at the Streeper Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Sunday.
